Ultracapacitor Engine Start Boost Module Kit

Ultracapacitor Engine Start Boost Module Kit
This listing is an engine starting booster module. It consists of six 2300 farad 2.5 volt Nippon ultracapacitors connected in series

We have a range of ultracapacitors modules. Pease check out other listings for more detail.

This module comes with one pair of cables for the car installation. It does not have a voltage balancing and protection module. Please refer to the other products in our store.

How it Works:
The ultracapacitor engine starting booster module is connected across the battery wires, preferably as close as possible to the starter motor. Even if the battery is weak, it keeps the ultracaps charged to the battery voltage. When the starter is engaged, the energy in the ultracaps drives the starter, giving full voltage to the starter, due to its extremely low resistance. This is especially effective in starting engines, as they will not start unless they reach a minimum starting RPM. A weak battery may be able to turn it over, but if it doesn't reach minimum RPM, the engine won't start.
If the engine doesn't start on the first try, in a minute or so the battery will recharge the ultracaps for another strong shot.
As a side benefit, the ultracapacitor engine starting booster module will stabilize the system voltage, which will improve performance of some accessories, such as high power audio systems.
the boost module just like a secondary battery, but much strong then normal one. for short bursts, is not affected by high or low temperatures, and will laste longer.

 Installation:
You will need heavy duty longer cable to connect the module to the starter motor. The as closer as possible to the starter, the better, but in some cases there is no convenient nearby space, so you will have to figure out the best location. The heavier cable is better. Welding cable is a good choice as it is heavy and flexible. You will need to put terminals on the cable ends to connect them to the module, and (depending on your installation) to the starter and ground. When you are ready to connect it for the first time, you might want to connect a headlamp or similar in series with the booster to limit the charging current. After a couple of minutes the headlight will get dimmer as the booster charges. Then you can remove the headlight and make permanent connections. You can skip the headlamp and connect the cables directly, but there will be a good spark and very high current out of the battery as the booster charges.
If you have a high power audio system, you can also run heavy gauge cable from this booster to the power terminals of your amp to get clean audio at high power. You can install the module in some kind of enclosure if desired.
 If the booster won't start the engine on the first try, the battery will recharge it in about 2 minutes.This module is fully assembled and tested and works fine

FAQ

1. A single capacitor is 1400F/2.5V or 2300F/2.5V. Why 6 connected capacitors become 233F/15V or 383F/15V?
The formula for the series capacitance is as followings:
N serial caps 1 / CT = 1 /C1+ 1 / C2 +……,
Here is the result for 6 connected capacitors:
6 capacitors of 1400F/2.5V in series connection
C=1/(1/1400+1/1400+1/1400+1/1400+1/1400+1/1400)=233F
V=2.5V*6=15v
6 capacitors of 2300F/2.5V in series connection
C=1/(1/2300+1/2300+1/2300+1/2300+1/2300+1/2300)=383F
V=2.5V*6=15V
6 capacitors of 2000F/2.3V in series connection
C=1/(1/2000+1/2000+1/2000+1/2000+1/2000+1/2000)=333F
V=2.3V*6=13.8V
6 capacitors of 3200F/2.3V in series connection
C=1/(1/3200+1/3200+1/3200+1/3200+1/3200+1/3200)=533F
V=2.3V*6=13.8V
2、What is the capacitor life time?
It can be more than 10 million times of charging/ discharging. The capacitor can be charged/discharged more than 20 times a day for 136 years of continuous usage. It is 1000 - 2000 times of Li-Ion/Ni-MH/ Ni-Cd batteries.
3. Why the capacitor drop the voltage even I don't connect to any device?
The capacitor will drain or loss power faster than the regular Ni-Cd battery even not connected to any devices. Some of the capacitor even drop more than 3 voltage overnight. We recommend to connect the capacitors with battery to reduce the voltage loss.
4. How to get to full capacity of the capacitors?
This is call the "seat effect" for the capacitors. You need to charge and discharge the capacitors for few cycles to reach its full capacity when you begin to use in the devices.
5. Which model of the capacitors fits my need?
Our product is designed of the 12V car system. When place the capacitors in the car, please make sure you have enough space to put in there. If you are interesting in different product please contact us here in Ebay.
